First, let us explain what FSRAH is:
First State Rehab At Home is a House Calls Outpatient Physical Therapy practice. Unlike traditional outpatient therapy providers, we have opted to see patients in their homes exclusively. That affords us the opportunity to treat patients where they live and observe many of their physical challenges. This helps us so we can create real-world therapy interventions. It also allows patients the freedom to be treated safely and privately in their homes with no need to travel to an outpatient therapy center.
What are the differences between a House Calls practice vs. Home Health?
As a House Calls Outpatient Therapy Practice, our services are paid by Medicare and other insurance plans. For Medicare, our services are covered under the Part B benefits. In addition, for non-Medicare plans, our services are covered under the outpatient therapy benefits. Physician face-to-face contact prior to treatment is not required under Medicare Part B.
Alternatively, Home Health Part A coverage has different parameters patients must fall under in order to qualify for treatment. The goal of Home Health is to provide treatment for injuries, illnesses and regain independence. Their primary aim is to advance the patient to be able to leave their house. Ultimately, the biggest difference is the home-bound requirements under Part A coverage and is typically associated with a recent stay at a hospital.
This chart highlights some similarities, as well as the differences between House Calls vs. Home Health.

In Conclusion, both of these options have similar traits and goals.
However, Medicare part B has more flexibility and goes beyond what can be offered by Home Health Agencies. The House Calls model under Medicare Part B is an excellent way to be treated and offers things that Part A can’t.
